Welcome to the Gordano Academy.
What is the Academy all about?
The aim of the Academy is to inspire and support our highest-achieving students with the potential to progress into the most competitive destinations in their chosen fields when you leave school.
What will the Academy do?
The Academy gives you a range of opportunities that are both inspiring and help develop a wide range of skills that places you in the best position to enable you to realise your aspirations.
How do I become part of the Academy?
You can enter the Academy in any Year from Year 9 upwards. To be invited to be part of the Academy you need to perform to a certain level depending on your age; this could be your Key Stage 3 scores at the end of Year 8, your GCSE results or your AS results. However, once in the Academy, you'd also need to earn the right to ‘graduate’ into the next year by completing a certain number of Academy activities.
What does ‘being in The Academy’ involve?
As an Academy member you will be able to access a wide range of opportunities that will help you to build a really strong Academy ‘profile’. All these activities will fit into one of the following strands:
- Independent Enquirers
- Creative Thinkers
- Team Workers
- Self-Managers
- Effective Participants
You will have your own ‘My Academy’ webpage where you will be able to see the opportunities on offer to you and to ‘log’ your involvement through completion of a ‘learning journal’. This will show your ability to be a reflective learner.
